I must admit I was thinking of finding some welding gloves to go to work today. What a lovely and rewarding day I had!

On my busy list today were 3 cats – all new ones and all not too amenable to being handling by their owners. They all had had stifle/knee surgery recently and in need of physio.

One of the most rewarding parts of my career change from treating humans to animals would have to be the behaviour changes I have had to make during my work day. Animals really do pick up a lot on your energy. I worked my way calmly through assessing and treating these lovely animals and came away very happy with their progress. I hope the owners are now also more relaxed to continue treatment at home until I next review and develop a bond with their animals. Rehabilitation can be an interesting time and often very stressful for all involved,  but I hope by sharing some care and physiotherapy treatment techniques both can appreciate the benefits this can give (to both the human and the animal!).

I look forward to seeing their progress next time. This is one receiving acupuncture at the end of the treatment. The owner wanted me to take a photo because she couldn’t believe we could a) get a harness on – to help start some controlled exercise b) she was lying there and c) having acupuncture and relaxing. She was purring at the end and moving better which is great. After 12 weeks of crate rest and 2 surgeries it was nice for both of them to have some relaxing time.
