Maple has had such a long long road! 1 month ago this is Maple following amputation.  She broke her leg in early Sept last year after a collision with her bigger sister  at the doggy beach. Unfortunately, with such a skinny leg and after two failed fracture repairs and skin grafts, the decision was made to amputate to maximise her quality of life.

Dogs are truly amazing and very adaptable (much more so than the human counterparts I have treated over the years).  She found her balance quickly after surgery and is now building up to 15 mins walks on the lead.  As she is still healing from major surgery we are just working slowly with her but it is so great to see her more comfortable now and able to move on with quality of life.

This picture tells it all!

This is her physio session with Anna today at NCVS and her first session in the underwater treadmill.  She is walking very well and balanced for her first session. We are now working to keep the rest of her body in order with no secondary complications that can arise from distributing their weight unevenly/compensating.
