Go Bonnie!

Brooke Marsh - Tuesday, March 13, 2012
What a great shot! This is the lovely Bonnie (her story is on my testimonial page) who obviously is recovering beautifully with her Physiotherapy program for hock OCD.  I just received this photo today from her dedicated mum who looks like she has an ideal environment at home to keep her dogs happy. I can't say the leaping in the pool is physio approved but it is great to see her being able to extend so well and it is so lovely to see her enjoying the process.
The underwater treadmill at NCVS has given her very controlled strengthening with the buoyancy of the water helping with the recovery.  Her regular massage and acupuncture sessions have all added to the process.
Gotta love border collies!
I find these portage float coats work so well providing just enough buoyancy and fit snuggly.  They have superior quality and would recommend them for small to large dogs.  Check out the ruffwear section on my products page if you are interested.... Happy swimming!
Go Bonnie!

Geezer a little champion...

Brooke Marsh - Sunday, October 23, 2011

What a beautiful little face! Geezer is doing just so well.  He is only a couple of weeks after spinal surgery and is home and well.  He improved so quickly after surgery he managed to get home the next day.  We are gradually working on his stability and strength as his ataxia (unco-ordinated gait) improves.  He loves his water time, relaxes with his acupuncture and laps up the hands-on physiotherapy sessions we are giving him. Every day he is making gains and with such a keen owner should make a full recovery.  Go geezer!

cheers

Zak loves his underwater treadmill and physio....

Zak has such a fantastic time in the underwater treadmill.  Have a look at this video to put a smile on your dial!
This big german shepherd is now 6 weeks after spinal surgery for lumbosacral disc disease. He is gaining great strength in his hind limbs with his sessions and falls asleep with his acupuncture after such a big play.  Mind you his brilliantly enthusiastic owner also enjoys the kip after so much encouragement! Zak is such a gorgeous dog and just doing so well. I look forward to getting him back to beach time before too long.
A pleasure working with you Zak!

New shipment Portage Float coat....

Brooke Marsh - Sunday, March 20, 2011
I have just received a new shipment of the Portage Float coat for Dogs:

This has been invaluable for many clients (including my missie) to help with buoyancy with Swimming.

I also enables the owner to safely transfer their pet in/out of the water, car, up stairs, across slippery floors.

Some Buoyancy vests are too thick and buoyant, enabling the animal to just float if they fall out of a boat.

I have used the Ruffwear Float coat for years and find it is so hardy, 1 set has lasted me 4 years with very high use for all my clients in the underwater treadmill.  With a 2 year warranty, Ruffwear stands up to its name. If you would like to order one find my products page under Ruffwear and fill out a purchase form.

Happy swimming! Brooke

Missie update - my most improved!

Brooke Marsh - Sunday, February 06, 2011
Many have been asking after my Missie. Thanks for your concerns.
We have had an interesting couple of weeks. I might be biased but she really is a star patient. I have been pulling all the tricks out of my sleeve and doing my best (as is she). She is getting up more easily, walking assisted with a towel and wants to explore.  Missie will look drunk (ataxic) for some time (probably 6months or so) and it will be a long road but she is really progressing fast. It has not even been 2 weeks since her incident at the beach where she had her spinal injury (Type 3 thoracolumbar disc).
I found her mojo on thursday and put her in the pool with the portage float coat. She got her competitive nature back trying to beat her sister to the frisbee (a slight unfair advantage to her bigger 4 legged sister) and both legs are kicking well. This is a great way to keep her fitness up and get her bowels moving! The odd present is dropped for me on the way but you know... she can't help that.   We have been doing lots of underwater treadmill sessions also and of course physiotherapy and acupuncture. She now is only on natural supplements and medication. So all good so far!
Go Missie and thanks for trying so hard!

NEW portage float coats arrived as the weather heats up!

Brooke Marsh - Thursday, August 20, 2009
The new range of recreational  Ruffwear portage float coats have arrived from the US.
This buoyancy jacket provides excellent security for you and your dog to ensure that he (and you!) enter and leave the water safely.  The buoyancy also helps with those that need a bit more assistance to reduce anxiety in the water.  They have excellent durability and are highly recommended, especially after you dog has had surgery and you are getting back to swimming.
Any questions give Brooke a call or have a look at this product on the Ruffwear section of the product page.
Happy swimming!
