Equine Acupuncture Clinic

Brooke Marsh - Sunday, April 22, 2012
I had another fantastic week working to complete my Advanced Diploma of Equine Acupuncture.  This is the 2nd last clinic to consolidate all the information I have learnt over the last year.  We had some fantastic responses to treatment and I really enjoyed getting my brain working again.  Chinese medicine is such a great compliment to Western medicine.
The more I learn the more I know there is to learn.

These large beasts are so responsive to treatment and I enjoyed my week immensely.
Thanks Tom for taking us patiently through all the twists and turns of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

This made my day...

Brooke Marsh - Saturday, April 14, 2012
I treated Harry a few years ago after Cruciate surgery.  He recovered very well but had an incident of back spasm on Easter weekend, requiring treatment.  I was a little concerned about the fella and woke up to this message which made my day.

Hi Brooke

I can’t thank you enough for the care you took with Harry yesterday, and the extra time you gave him.

He slept for about 2 hrs when we got home, snuggled up in his pale blue dressing gown. When he woke up he was very happy and energetic. The massage and acupuncture worked wonders for him. This morning he woke us up (first time all week) ready to go out walking and demanding breakfast.

That is why I love my job!

Read my new article about Acupuncture

Brooke Marsh - Tuesday, March 20, 2012

I have just attached a new article I did for the NCVS (North Coast Veterinary Specialists) newsletter on the Acupuncture page on this website.  It gives a background for understanding the east and west approach to Acupuncture.

I hope it helps you understand a little more how this 5000 year old method of treatment works.

What a face!

Brooke Marsh - Monday, December 19, 2011
Lyra is a very special girl. At 10 months old she has been diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia.
With such a face how can you refuse treatment! She is a gorgeous dog and tolerates every trick I am throwing at her.
We have been working on building her muscle stability and strength over the last month or so. It was great to see her with much less pain on Saturday
With the underwater treadmill to correct her gait, improve her quality of muscle activation, specific exercises to improve her stability (dog-a-lates!), electroacupuncture, massage and moxa, I am sure she will continue to improve
Her owner is a massage therapist which is great to continue rehab at home, alongside her concoction of specific exercises.
I am sure she will continue to improve as she completes her growth.
This taping I did to help control her rotational instability - it gives her proprioception and supports her leg in a better position to activate the right butt muscles. It is all about the Butt!!
keep working on those buns of steal lovely lady!

Alfie fools us - now not needle phobic!

Brooke Marsh - Sunday, December 11, 2011

So I was told this beautiful dog was afraid of needles.  He has been suffering from back pain with possible disc degeneration.  Alfie's vets and dedicated owner have decided to manage his condition conservatively.  Not only does he tolerate his electroacupuncture sessions but he changes personality into 'zen' mode.  Combined with physiotherapy, massage, underwater treadmill and exercises at home to improve his spine stability and strength, Alfie is improving nicely.  I hope he continues to progress so he can get back to his old self.  Well done Alfie for being so brave!

Rancho relaxo for Gucci

Brooke Marsh - Sunday, November 20, 2011

Well summer is almost here. Rosy and Gucci had a lovely relaxing acupuncture session this week after her workout in the underwater treadmill.  Gucci with her chronic arthritis in her spine and hips is enjoying the warmer weather and getting to the water more often.  If you wonder if acupuncture is well tolerated (she is also having electroacupuncture here)... have a look at his picture!  Thanks for my kisses again this week Gucci!

cheers
